Barton Camp

Clifton Quilters have for many years been involved with The Bristol Children’s Help Society holiday camp in the Mendips ‘ Barton Camp’. We make quilts, and recently cushions and pillows which are given to the children on arrival for them to keep. Many of the children find these items a real comfort as they cope with difficult circumstances in their lives. Some of the children return for holidays and they bring with them the quilts which were given to them previously, much worn and loved. So we know they make a difference. Some of us have visited the camp and were amazed at the facilities and the happy caring atmosphere the children are welcomed into. It gives us such pleasure to make items for the children.

Made for the 2021 season.

Some of the quilts and cushions donated this year.

62 quilts, 19 cushions, 2 pillows and 2 big bags of wonderful toys including a life sized doll

A selection of thank you cards from the children at Barton Camp.

Neonatal Unit

In 2014 a member of our group asked the Neonatal ICU at Worcester Hospital if they could use her services as a patchworker.  They asked for little baby blankets and larger incubator covers for the ward.  She could not sew enough blankets on her own and therefore asked for help from the group.  Since then, Clifton Quilters have produced 331 little blankets and 19 incubator covers.  Worcester NICU nurses take it in strict rotation who is allowed to choose a blanket for the new arrival on the ward.  All the nurses appreciate the hard work that CQ put into producing the little blankets for them.
